Update on Buren and his family

Buren has been helping me to locate some property for a building. Recently, I spent part of a day with him and his wife looking at possible property. During our conversation he mentioned that two of his daughters, Chimgee and Uchkaa, would like to be baptized. I asked him and his wife if they also believed. Buren said that he does not yet believe but he is understanding more all the time. This is progress. In the past when I would ask him whether he believed in Jesus he would always respond that he did not understand. Now at least he says that he is understanding.

His wife Sonin is unable to come on Sundays because of work. Interestingly, she says that she is also understanding more and perhaps will become a believer in Jesus one day. She did attend our special meetings on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night last week.

Knowing that sometimes parents will say that their children are interested in things (like learning English) that the children really could care less about, I had Kristie ask the girls individually if they wanted to be baptized. They both seemed interested. So now we need to sit down with both of them and ask about their salvation testimony and the reason that they want to be baptized.

Please pray for Buren's family to be saved and baptized. Also, pray for wisdom for us that we would have the proper discernment as we talk to these two young ladies. Both of them are in their early twenties and have been attending our church services regularly. We are eager to have another baptismal service.

Prayer update

I need your prayers. What happens in America, does not stay in America but has the potential to impact Mongolians for Jesus Christ. As I survey my ministry here in Mongolia, several things are needed. I must have direction to use each day wisely for God's glory. The goal is easy: leave behind a church in Mongolia that will stand the test of time; the path is difficult.

Also, the power of the Holy Spirit to convict men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment is desperately needed. Starting with the first Sunday in January, I began preaching through the book of Mark. This past Sunday, Bob was in attendance; and the subject was the gospel of the kingdom of God that Jesus Christ preached. Once again, he clearly heard about salvation through Jesus Christ. Once again, at the end, he had a question to deflect attention away from truth.

Last, please pray for some details of the ministry. We are praying about a place to meet. We had seven adults come last week. When you add in a couple of Americans, that makes ten people. That is getting crowded for our living room. So we would like to find a place to meet that seats more like 30-40 adults plus a couple of rooms for the children to meet in.

Concluding with a couple of updates, I understand that Buren is out of the hospital though I have not seen him since he was discharged. The whole family has been healthy for several weeks - thank you for praying. The weather is still cold here. Tuesday's high was zero and the low was twenty-six below.
