More news on the protests

It seems that the protests have turned violent. The protesters set fire to the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party's headquarters downtown. A friend who lives not far from downtown took this picture of smoke rising from the building from his balcony.

Reports say that the police are using tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the crowds (here, here, and here). From my friend's balcony, I could clearly hear shouting and 'pops' that could have been fireworks or police firing tear gas or something loud. The U.S. Embassy issued a message via e-mail instructing American citizens to avoid any demonstrations as they may turn violent.

More updates as I have them.
